Music

Immersing myself in the creation of a musical world that is specific to a given project is a particular passion of mine as a music designer and composer. Every project has its unique musical sound and narrative waiting to be discovered!

I see it as my responsibility as a composer of game and film music, to not only be able to write music, but also to manage potential performers and produce the entire soundtrack.

In SINKING, players follow a wish in the form of a coin that has been tossed into a well. They travel through a visually and audibly appealing, constantly changing world and are guided through a reflective and thought-provoking narrative in a slow-paced experience. Being inspired by Krillbite’s The Plan this game focuses on evoking certain emotions, such as fascination or unease in the players and conveying a deeper message wrapped in metaphors, all while maintaining a certain level of interpretive openness.

About Me and Music

The reason why I want to create music for games and films is that every project comes with a deep dive into a different musical world. Being versatile in many different genres is what motivates me. Although my main instrument is the piano and I have sung in various choirs, I am keenly interested in jazz, rock and songwriting, and I love electronic music. However, this does not diminish my passion for orchestral and choral compositions.

I started taking piano lessons at a young age and soon realised that I wanted to write and play my own music. I therefore started writing my own songs and producing music digitally in Ableton Live at an early age. Having grown up in a family of classical musicians, with both my father and grandfather being composers and many of my mother’s relatives being classical instrumentalists, I realised that while I love digital music, I also appreciate traditional classical music, especially that of the Romantic period. I therefore studied musicology in Halle (Saale) and wrote my Bachelor’s thesis on jazz and bossa nova, while constantly practising and producing digital music.

During my studies, I became increasingly interested in film and video game music as I found the diverse use of influences particularly appealing. I worked tirelessly on film and video game projects to gain experience, and eventually studied for a practical Master’s degree in Media and Game Design in Wernigerode. There, I produced more soundtracks for projects and gained creative experience. To date, I have produced soundtracks for around ten short films, six games and over ten game jam games.
